This paper will examine about Ian Frazier’s notion “The West was a laboratory of identity for American. This is the place where we became a people unlike the people we were in Europe. This is the place where we became mythic in our mind.” It will use the historical background and Western myth analysis to see the identity of America and how Americans invented their identity from the westward movement which set them apart from the Old World culture.
